Jim was born on Tyneside in 1935. He is a self-taught artist and therefore has never been restricted by a formal art school education.

His talent for drawing was apparent from a very early age and he spent the first twenty years of his working career in advertising and design. Some of his artwork can still be found on pieces as diverse as murals to wallpaper and adverts to commemorative plates.

In 1970 Jim became self-employed selling his skills to many national companies. He then decided that the rat race was best left to younger men and started to paint watercolours. He sold local scenes of the north-east very successfully until 1997 when he moved to the Lake District.

Jim Taylor was a much loved artist who created a wonderful series of Lake District art prints, each with its own phrase or saying, featuring ‘man and dog’ venturing out into the Lake District … often despite the rain!

Sadly Jim passed away at the end of 2017.
