Nigel Edmondson

The late Nigel Edmondson was a ceramic artist based in the Lake District. Most of Nigel’s work was hand-built using slab construction, coiling and, occasionally, throwing and coiling in combination. Craft-crank clay was used, fired to 1250°C in oxidation. Firing to this temperature ensures that all the work is frost-proof and can safely be left outside all year. Surfaces were often textured and much of his work incorporated landscape-based abstraction that reflects and responds in particular to the Lakeland Fells he enjoyed walking and climbing.
