Ben started painting in 2017, inspired after a trip to the Lake District.
He is self-taught, studying the way that light falls on the landscape. Ben loves to create a sense of feeling and mood in his oil paintings, and tries to capture that “you just had to be there” feeling in every painting.
Ben loves the Lakes and comes here often with his partner to hike up the higher fells. Ben used to be in the army and loves the more difficult side of Lake District fell walking! On these hiking trips he takes the opportunity to collect material and inspiration for his paintings to take back to his studio.
